Experimental Posters
The assignment was to design a trio of posters - for three seperate authors - that could function both individually and collectively. The respective importance of each author had to be conveyed within an overarching design system. It was mandatory to experiment with the manipulation and arrangement of typography and image. My final result is meant to persuade audiences to attend the series of events. I achieved this through hierarchy, color, texture and research.
Research
What do the three authors share in common?
These three authors are all trailblazers in their respective areas of literature. They all share an ability to generate important, yet uncomfortable discourse through the inclusion of taboo or underrepresented topics. As a reader, the questions that arise while reading their work naturally made me uncomfortable. My direction with this design system was to evoke a similar feeling through the use of gritty textures and stark contrast.
